On Sunday, Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti confirmed that the team has interest in Colin Kaepernick. He also said the club is looking into auditioning Robert Griffin III.

“We’re very sensitive to it, and we’re monitoring it and we’re still, as [general manager Ozzie Newsome] says, we’re scrimmaging it,” Bisciotti said. “We’re trying to figure what’s the right tact. Pray for us.”
Naturally, the decision of whether to sign Kaepernick involves considerations that go beyond just football. Team president Dick Cass said that the team is reaching out to fans and sponsors as they think about inking the polarizing athlete (Twitter links via Jeff Zrebiec). Cass says that the organization has spoken directly with Kaepernick, so their interest certainly seems legitimate.
The Ravens aren’t certain about whether they want to kick the tires on Griffin and they will first evaluate the health of Joe Flacco and backup Ryan Mallett before moving forward (Twitter link). Of course, it doesn’t cost anything to work a player out, so one has to wonder how real the Ravens’ interest is in Griffin. It’s possible that Baltimore is looking to first light a fire under Mallett before giving serious consideration to an outside arm.
I honestly think I’d rather watch the new guy, the just signed Arena dude, the 1 who “played” @Stanford n @Clemson, might be refreshing to see an athlete who’s not spoiled, who doesn’t have 3 page rap sheet, thinks a posse is something from a cowboy movie, would actually be grateful for the opportunity before him n show some respect to his employer, the league, the fans, n this wonderful country where some young man who only ever attempted 3 passes in his 4 yr college career can dream of being a pro for a day……good luck David Olson….
You can dream about being a pro in any country
That is awesome. His career college yards are -1. That just shows you how much people hate Kaepernick and what he did
They don’t hate kapernick… Romo and Cutler were better players and better fits on most teams but they couldn’t find a team either. Also Kaep had one of the most bought jerseys in the NFL last year. The notion that people hate him or he’s being blackballed is just silly
Agreed. Even before Romo and Cutler retired there were people asking why Kaepernick wasn’t signed yet. There isn’t a GM out there that would take Kaepernick over either of those two (money aside).
Kurt Warner didn’t have a traditional path to the NFL either. I can root for David Olson, easily.
Baltimore teams are a dumpster fire
Real mature dude.
Im disgusted by articles about teams being interested or not being interested in Kaepernick. Can we just wait until he is signed and then just write one very large article about it.
Just keep writing! Then when he signs
W/the Canada football league. Then he can stand for the Canada national anthem.
I think he said he would stand for the national anthem now. Now that he realizes he’s a backup at best an no one wants him for his antics.
RG3 is garbage so if he’s chosen before Kaep we know the blackballing is legit
Kaep isn’t being blackballed, Romo and Cutler couldn’t find jobs either and they’ve been just as good or better and fit better in an average NFL offense. Idk why the best qbs aren’t getting jobs
Romo had multiple job opportunities (Denver and Houston) but chose his health instead. Cutler sucks. So I’m not sure what you’re getting at
He fit in there
Guys both have had there chance… as a fan count me out watching either…. lack of brains on both counts
I don’t know if either are dirty enough to play for the Ravens
It is about time somebody said it. Why does the media want Kaepernick to be signed so badly? First of all, he is not that good, people. He was good for a year or two and people figured him out. Think about the other people that have been good for a couple years, did not have the work ethic, and people figured out- Vince young comes to mind.
Second, he is a cancer in the clubhouse. He was that way before his protest. There were reports how he did not speak to any of his teammates and secluded himself.
Third, he is asking for too much money. No teams want to give that type of money for a back up.
Fourth, according to polls, he was the top reason why ratings were down in the NFL last year. Let’s just call it as it is. His protests, albeit bold, have just been about the attention. The protests in the past from other players- rauf, jabbar, etc- were legitimately from the heart. They weren’t wearing Fidel Castro shirts or socks with policeman dressed up as pigs. This is a childish rant from a clubhouse cancer that the media has lifted up to national attention and shoving him in our faces as some type of hero. Every radio station is afraid to call as it is. Even the TradeRumors posts have a picture of Kaepernick at the top of the headline about the Cowboys looking for another quarterback. In the actual article, it just says they are not interested in Kaepernick. So why the picture of him? This is Michael Sam all over again. The medias agenda to try to tell the public what to think.
If Kaep got a job he wouldn’t be a martyr anymore. If he wanted a backup type of deal he’d have one by now, and if he was good enough for a starting job, he’d have one of those by now too.
I suspect that, at this point, he wants to be controversial a little more than he wants to play football.
So tired of reading about this guy, everyday it’s something……. BORING???
The 49ers were terrible last season. I don’t think Kaep could’ve done much better given the talent around him. That said, I don’t understand the hatred for this guy. I could go on a tangent about how people seem to care about a song and piece of fabric, than the people in the nation it represents but I have no place to tell anyone how they should feel. I just hate this double standard in football where breaking the law is forgivable, but enacting one of your rights as an American is cause for uprise
