The original content and analysis produced by the PFR staff during the past week:
- With the 2017 regular season only two months away, PFR began its annual Offseason In Review series, assessing the major signings, departures, trades, and other notable events for each of the 32 NFL clubs. We covered eight teams this week:
- As the franchise tag deadline looms on Monday, PFR’s Zach Links examined the situation in Pittsburgh. The high tag number ($12.12MM) provides a safe floor for Le’Veon Bell if the Steelers and their star running back can’t agree on terms, but Bell’s injury history and off-field track record could give the team pause.
- The other two franchise-tagged performers, the Redskins’ Kirk Cousins and Rams’ Trumaine Johnson, don’t appear any closer than Bell to reaching an agreement. Zach asked readers which player would be the most likely to sign a long-term deal. Although “none” made a good fight of it, readers went with Bell here.
NBA play 82 games with 15 players. NFL uses 60+ players and play 16 games. I hope the union leaders can see the difference.
