The Dolphins don’t appear likely to sign free agent linebacker Zach Brown, tweets Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post.

Brown, who has also been linked to the Bills, Colts, and Raiders, was at one point thought to be deciding between Oakland and Miami, but there’s been no movement in his market since that report was issued a week ago. The Dolphins, for what it’s worth, don’t appear to be going all-out in an effort to sign Brown.
“The lion’s share of our focus right now is on the draft,” EVP of football operations Mike Tannenbaum said this week. “If an opportunity came along, we’d evaluate it appropriately. But our focus is really on the draft and something comes along, we’ll certainly look at it.”
Any lingering issue between Brown and the Dolphins almost certainly comes down to price. Brown earned just north of $1MM in 2016 and is now likely aiming to cash in after an excellent season. But while Brown may be looking for a contract in the $6MM range, Miami is only comfortable paying him $3-4MM annually.
Brown, 27, is one of only four of PFR’s Top 50 Free Agents who remain unsigned. He’s also our top-ranked linebacker, ahead of Perry Riley, Gerald Hodges, and DeAndre Levy.
Miami should really sign him, they will make a good linebacker corps out of the three and he could be a really valuable player to have alongside our other new defenders
He sounds pretty good, and would probably help improve our LB’s as a group. It sounds like he’s going to have to drop his demands some if he wants someone to sign him, so the Phins are probably just waiting him out. Hopefully it works.
Is anyone offering Brown more (adjusted for CA and NY income tax)?
Gase is looking for players who fit this team. The fact Miami isn’t chasing him after he put up a good season and Miami needs LB help tells me the team may have doubts about him in the locker room.
I think Miami is more interested in adding a rotational piece for their interier defensive line, which is thin, in free agentcy. Rather than another linebacker, because it’s already been addressed(signing Timmons, and a healthy Misi in 2017).
I agree with Derek, I’m assuming his attitude is the reason he’s not being sign, one of his close friends said he would rather play for the raiders so obviously if he would sing with us it would be only cause of the $$$ and we don’t want that
I think all this talk is purely speculation. We should offer him $5M. He would be our best LBer. If your going beat the Pats this is what you need to do.
