The Browns have discussed a trade for quarterback A.J. McCarron with the Bengals, Ian Rapoport of NFL.com tweets. However, the two sides haven’t gotten very far as Cincinnati is asking for a lot in a potential deal.
Earlier this week, the Bengals were said to be asking for a first round pick for McCarron. With the first round in the books, it remains to be seen whether the Bengals are willing to come down from that absurd ask. No matter what, it sounds like the Bengals will hold out for an impressive offer because they value having McCarron as Andy Dalton‘s backup.
McCarron may not be worth a first round pick, but the Bengals know that he might be the only thing keeping their playoff hopes alive in the event of a Dalton injury. If the Bengals are to part with him, they’ll need both a quality haul and a good amount of confidence in one of the available Day 2 quarterbacks.
A 2nd and 5th in this draft plus Two 2018 2nds for McCarron. Isn’t this plenty for him?
And if I were Cle I’d draft another late round pick like C. Kelly. As insurance. The. You have your 2 first and a second next year(along with this year 3 first rounders and a third) to further build the team.
Kizer from ND would be a perfect pick for Jackson.
That seems like way too much
2nd and 5th now and a 5th next year.
These QB rumors are getting to the point of absurdity for the Browns.
So in that spirit, why not give Brock Osweiler a chance to start.
Yes, he was a disaster for the Texans, but hey the Browns really don’t have anybody to start and why not hold onto the draft choices?
Really, because they are going to be shaken down if they trade for a QB and especially if it is within their division!!!!
Sheesh, whose backup QB will they be linked to next?
Well, if the Browns are ready to trade their 3 guys drafted last night to the Steelers, we might let them have Landry Jones and a 11th round pick in this year’s draft. (Shhhh)
We’ll give them Flacco for a 6th rounder.
He looks fat as hell in that picture
He isn’t exactly fat, but also doesn’t have the build of an athlete which is one reason why he went later in the draft and wasn’t expected to be a starter in the league. Their ask for him is too much as is the Pats for Garrapolo. These rumors have been ridiculous. These teams all think they can continue to fleece the Brownies because they’ve always been poorly run. Glad Cleveland weathered the storm and got their QB at a good price in Kizer.
