Rashad Jennings had a strong showing on “Dancing With The Stars” Monday night, or at least that’s what this recap from USA Today tells us. The Giants free agent running back used his “quick-footed Cha Cha” and stylish golden blazer to win over judges, putting him into DWTS frontrunner status.
His performance netted him four “sparkle points” out of five from USA Today, but the rest of the league isn’t going wild over his newfound hobby. Word is that the free agent running back is being blackballed for participating in the show, longtime NFL reporter Howard Balzer tweets.
Jennings is the latest in a long line of NFL players to take a shot at ballroom dancing on network television. Calvin Johnson, Antonio Brown, Chad Johnson, Hines Ward, Warren Sapp, Kurt Warner, Lawrence Taylor, Emmitt Smith, Donald Driver, Jason Taylor, Michael Irvin, Jerry Rice, and Von Miller have all strutted their stuff, with varying degrees of success. Most of those players did the show after retiring and only one, Miller, went on DWTS during a critical time for contract negotiations.
No one questioned Miller’s commitment to football during his reality show stint, but that might be because Miller was in his prime and one of the league’s very best defensive players. Jennings, on the other hand, is a soon-to-be 32-year-old coming off of an injury-riddled season. Teams probably expected that Jennings would be spending the offseason working out and meeting with interested teams. Instead, teams might be left with the impression that he is trying to follow the path of ex-Giant Michael Strahan. As a charismatic and good looking guy, Jennings could be zeroed in on a broadcasting career and that could detract from his commitment to football.
I have Jennings ranked as the fourth-best running back left in free agency.
BUT HE GOT 4 SPARKLE POINTS!!!!
GODDAMN RIGHT HE DID!
He’s just not that good. He will latch on as a backup somewhere.
Probably a better dancer than a RB. Glad he’s gone from NY.
Probably one of the dumbest things I’ve ever read.
Agreed….lol
Next year it’ll be Adrian Peterson on Dancing with the Stars. His NFL career looks likely to be over by then and for the last several years all he’s done is dance behind the line of scrimmage, so he should be a lock!
People are saying Kaepernick is being blackballed too. The fact is, neither is very good and the market is waiting to see what happens with better players first (Romo, Ossweiler, Cutler, Charles, AP, Blount, etc.) Once those guys land then these backups will be considered. Jennings may be a spot starter for a few teams. Kaepernick is a back anyway you slice it. A backup with baggage.
If thats what you really believe I have a bridge in Brooklyn for sale. Of course Kap is getting blackballed his numbers arent that bad on a terrible team.
Why would anyone commit to Kaepernick now with Romo and Cutler still out there? It’s like committing to Rosie O’Donnell because she’s the only one available when you know Kate Upton will be available tomorrow.
He’ll latch on with the Mothership if he can’t get on a team.
Colin Kaepernick, Darrelle Revis Amber Shawn Jennings are a direct result of their play on the field, Revis fell off a cliff,Kaepernick was never the same after Harbagh left and weight loss/ vegetarian Amer Shawn Jennings never proved to be worth the contract he was given from the Giants
Voice text lol Rashad Jennings
Or maybe because he’s not good?
That’s what he was saying…
People who think kaepernick is being blackballed obviously never saw him play a full season and instead look at numbers. Kaepernick is not a good QB. He throws the ball too hard, he can’t read the defense, his route progression is non-exsistant. If it wasn’t for his ability to run he wouldn’t even be in the league. Kaepernick needs to get out of the weight room and into the film room. He is just not the guy, and if you’re not the guy, you can’t have extra baggage. His whole protest was an embarrassment to the entire bay area. A privileged mixed race kid adopted by white people who are directly responsible for kaepernick sporting career. His growing an afro and putting a tint filter on his camera doesn’t make him a “poor black man”. Kaepernick is a diva who needs the spotlight, and will do anything to stay in it.
Are you sure it wasn’t because of his 3.3 YPC last season? You like blowing things out of proportion don’t you?
