The Packers have re-signed offensive lineman Don Barclay, reports Michael Cohen of the Journal Sentinel (via Twitter). It’s a one-year deal worth $1.3MM.
The 2012 undrafted free agent will be entering his sixth season with the organization. Besides his lost 2014 campaign, the lineman has only missed two regular season games. He started only one game for the Packers this past season, but he did appear in every contest. Pro Football Focus metrics rated Barclay as a better run blocker than pass blocker.
With J.C. Tretter set to join the Browns, Barclay is now slotted in as the backup center to Corey Linsley. The 27-year-old could also compete to backup guards Lane Taylor and Jason Spriggs.
In Ted We Trust
Oh Christ.
At least it’s cheap, one-year.
so is Ted Thompson just to dame lazy and cheep to resign TJ Lang.
No, he just won’t sign him to a deal that will hurt the Packers in the future!
Thats the thinking that hurt them this year… It should be draft , develop an pay them not draft an develop for another team
Has it been confirmed it’s USD and not CAD, or better yet YEN?
I’m still hoping this is a joke
ME TO
So glad Ted is taking the “re-load” thinking seriously.
Load of $hit
so who’s next to get resigned overweight and slow Lacy
The way this offseason is going: the Packers will have a great draft spot next year. Can’t sign most of their own key guys and any new top talent. Becoming a farm team for the rest of the league.
when will you learn…. packers have always kept their top talent, bakhtiari, Matthews, bulaga, Daniels, Rodgers, cobb , nelson, shields, Burnett, and now perry. You CANNOT keep everyone so get that through your head. if you need examples check the seahawks. bad teams have money and can guarantee $$ and playing time to players who are older (lang) injury prone (cook) or not full time starters ( Hyde)
