The Browns are strongly considering drafting Mitch Trubisky No. 1 overall, league sources tell Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. Trubisky has long been connected to Cleveland, so today’s news doesn’t come as a huge surprise.

Before this week’s combine, there were rumblings that the UNC product would measure in closer to 6’1″ than his billed 6’2″+ height. On Thursday, he silenced that talk when he officially came in at 6’2″ and one-eighth of an inch. The difference might seem trivial, but talent evaluators are obsessed with height at the quarterback position and the extra inch or two can make a huge difference when trying to see over the defensive line. Johnny Manziel and Rex Grossman are the only two QBs under 6’1″ that have been selected in the first round in the last 15 years. Neither pick panned out.
Texas A&M pass rusher Myles Garrett is also believed to be a leading candidate at No. 1 overall.
Myles Garrett or trade back….
oh god please no
Who do you think Browns should take at No. 1?
Myles Garrett. No question.
Who cares, the browns are a dumpster fire of a franchise.
I’m a 49er fan and I have the same response when I see we may draft him.
Oh god please no!
I’m a Bears fan and I say the same thing when it says we may draft him!
Relax…there’s always the Jets trading up and bailing everyone out.
The Browns are dysfunctional. They have no football people in their organization.
All the ‘football people’ in their organization the previous decade proved really helpful.
This has nothing to do with them. This report is all on Mary Kay Cabot.
They have the opposite of the Midas touch, they can grab Joe Montana in his prime at #1 and somehow he’d flame out. They are the Bermuda Triangle of QBs anymore.
It seems like Mary Kay Cabot is the only writer saying this. And it’s something she has been saying for weeks now. The Browns should keep both first round picks and take Garrett with that first overall pick. Trading the #12 pick (or some combination of picks, say a second and third for example) for Garappolo or trading a non-first round pick for McCarron would make more sense than drafting Trubisky.
Did they measure the heel of his shoe? It coulda been above norm, like 1.5″.
The length of the heel or the width?
the height.
In all honesty none of these QBs should be taken until mid to late second and in high on Watson and Mahomes. Teams are desperate though and will make a desperate moves. This draft is deep basically everywhere, O-line, D-line, TE, RB, CB, LB take advantage of that and stock up on great players instead of settling for decent
this Draft is no where near deep on o line and not too deep in LB but this is one of the worst o line classes I’ve seen in a while…
O line group is bad. Other then Ramczyk, Lamp and Robinson. Boles is a nice player. But dudes already 25.
I can c trubisky at 12. Not 1, 2, or 3. Unless ur worried about the Bears or jets drafting him u don’t take him over Garrett. I c the 49ers going Watson over Trubisky.
I know the pick everyone keeps parroting is Garrett, but I’d take Foster. He looks like a difference making LB. Pair him with Collins and then draft one of the safeties, and you have that defense with excelent pieces at every level. Last year, their defensive line wasn’t terrible and guys like Massib flashed. You’re not going to fix this all at once, but there is a real chance to take a jump with your defense if you do it right. Even with as bad as that OF was, they could run the ball last year, and if any of these QBs fall to the 2nd or 3rd round, which is likely, you could take a flyer on one then because this team isn’t going to do anything but ruin a guy who gets it all heaped on his shoulders at that high of a pick with this poor of a roster.
Foster is a fine player, but there are not many players that play on the d line with garrets athleticism
I think you have a case here☝️
Browns should draft Deshaun Watson and then take Derek Barnett at number 12.
That would be classic Browns!
These reports are NFL teams blowing smoke IMO…no reason to actually say what your thinking
