Now that Le’Veon Bell is spoken for, Eddie Lacy arguably stands as the best running back on the open market. However, there’s a chance he won’t get there either. Lacy says his rep has been in contact with the Packers about a new deal and, so far, the feedback is positive.
“Talking to my agent, the Packers have been very vocal about having me back there,” Lacy told ESPN.com’s Adam Schefter.
Lacy was off to a great start last season before an ankle injury shut him down in the fall. There are loads of question marks about the running back due to his overall inconsistency and weight fluctuation, but the talent is undeniably there. At his best, Lacy is a wrecking ball who can shatter any front seven for lengthy gains. If the Packers do not re-sign Lacy by March 9th, he’ll be inundated with phone calls from interested teams. Still, it could be a little while longer before he can get on the practice field.
“My healing process is 4-6 months, on the 26th [of February] it [was] the fourth month,” Lacy said. “I’m going to try and go out and run, but if it’s not comfortable then I’m just going to continue doing what I’ve been doing. But by April, whenever I have to report, I should be able to go out and do everything.”
Lacy is to slow rather bring back Hyde, Lang,Perry, tretter and bring in some FA to fill hols at CB,LB AND A PASS RUSHER and let Eleat Wolf tack control of the draft because TT sucks at drafting players the only 1st round picks that worked out fell to him lick Rogers,Raje,HaHa the only 1st round pick that was good that didn’t fall to him was Matthews.
You do know there is more than 1 round in the NFL draft….
your 1st round pick needs to a starter or a key player on the team from week one. Witch one of the packers draft picks made a impact the last 2 years.
“Your 1st round pick needs to be a starter…” sooo what about Aaron Rodgers?
we drafted Rodgers when Favre was still our starter and we got the #1 rated player in the draft with the 24th pick you’re not going to start a rookie Rogers over a HALL OF FAME QB IN FAVRE . if we didn’t have Favre Rodgers would probably start as a rookie.
Rodgers was not the #1 rated prospect. Maybe by the Packers, but 23 teams would not have passed on him if he was the #1 prospect. Also, you’re further proving my point, you stated that 1st round picks need to be a starter from week one, but Rodgers was not.
Kenny Clarke was rated above 80 on the year by pro football focus and played in every game… so you can check that off your list. I also like how you conveniently cut it at 2 years so as to no include Clinton Dix who was 2nd team all pro. There is no GM in the NFL that can deliver what you expect from 1st rd picks. Draft guru’s call the first rd a 50/50 crapshoot and it only goes down from there. TT has drafted so well in fact, that’s the packers have signed just a few free agents since he took over and lead NFC in championship game appearances and are just 1 behind the patriots for the NFL lead… But don’t let facts get in the way of your narrative.
You named Nick Perry as a target FA. Remind me in which round wase he drafted?
it took Perry about 3 to 4 years before he became a key member of the packers defense.
I agree let Wolf have more input on the draft hopefully Ted goes out and gets a good corner back in free agency not holding my breath
You can’t bring him back for more than 3-4 mil I would think. Hell I’d be thrilled if we could get a deal done with 2 mil base and if he hits certain incentives during the year (Yards, Carries, Games Played) he can earn up to 5 mil or something. Gives him a chance to prove he’s durable and gives the Packers value if he produces and doesn’t kill the pocket book if he craps out again
Why? He’s a bum.
First round is overrated a lot in my opinion. Look at Lacy second round, several of our O line players, receivers, etc. Also the Patriots trade their first for multiple picks frequently and find talent iin later rounds. You need to find players that fit your vision, which the Packers do. Several Ryan Leafs, out there that get big bucks and flame out.
