Former 49ers general manager Trent Baalke could land with the Packers in a front office role, according to Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, who adds that “speculation” has tied Baalke to Green Bay given his friendship with Packers GM Ted Thompson.

Green Bay’s front office could soon be the site of upheaval, as Brian Gutekunst, the club’s director of college scouting, will take a second interview for the 49ers GM job (ironically, to replace Baalke), and is thought to be the leading contender for the position. Thomspon has also been rumored to be nearing retirement, and Chiefs general manager John Dorsey and Packers director of football operations Eliot Wolf have each been mentioned as candidates to replace him. Earlier today, Wolf signed a new contract to remain in Green Bay, removing himself from San Francisco’s search.
Baalke, meanwhile, has been linked to another club this winter, as a December report indicated that he could join the Broncos in some capacity after departing the Niners. Having enjoyed a working relationship with Denver GM John Elway as the Broncos and 49ers conducted recent joint practices, Baalke could make for a natural fit in the Denver front office.
I feel bad for Greenbay if that Is the truth. Baalke is a arrogant individual who is a bad communicator and basically a bad personnel guy, if you don’t believe it look at his track record.
what rick said
I wouldn’t let Trent Baalke have any sport of input if I were running an Orange Julius stand let alone a football team.
If he’s not given the power of running the team he might an okay addition. I just think him rubbing a team isn’t a good ide because the guy thinks he’s know better than anyone else and if you don’t agree with him you’re in his s*** list and he will he doesn’t take others advice. He proved that in San Fran. They could’ve had some good players but Baalbek didn’t take people’s advice and he was so damn stubborn he chased off Harbaugh and made all of our good players either leave in free agency or retire. Really sucks what he did. Wish Jed would’ve taken Harbaugh side in that battle.
As a Packer fan, this scares me a bit. Baalke is horrifically incompetent, and I don’t want him anywhere near power. Please Ted, just stop.
Someone has to make the Starbucks runs.
Baalke must have some serious blackmail on somebody high up if this were to actually happen.
Why does my name show up as json-api??
Never mind.
Well hopefully it’s in concessions or ticket sales or something like that or the Packers will regret this idea
Eh can’t be any worse than Ted since every year we have so little depth on our team that we struggle to put bodies on the field once people get hurt
We’ve been to the playoffs 8 straight years and won a Super Bowl, don’t think he’s done a bad job at all.
Yeah I wouldn’t say he’s done a bad job at all…you can argue that he’s failed to utilize free agency as much as he could’ve but when you have the results that the Packers have had its kind of ridiculous to criticize the job he’s done
okay. He’s actually been good at it’s finding a superstar that he hasn’t been too good at overall he’s going to good job though
Please no
Balk on Baalke!
