Although the Chargers have not yet formally relieved head coach Mike McCoy of his duties, the club is fully expected to do so and will commence its search for a new coach in the near future, sources tell Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com.

Given that the Chargers are likely to relocate to Los Angeles, the team is now willing to expend resources in order to revamp its coaching search as it competes for talent with the Rams, who recently fired their head coach in Jeff Fisher. The Rams have already been linked to a number of candidates, including Jon Gruden, New Orleans head coach Sean Payton, and Atlanta offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan, although Gruden has maintained that he is not interested in returning to coaching at this time.
McCoy, meanwhile, has led the Chargers to a 5-10 record this season, and yesterday lost to the previously winless Browns. During his San Diego run, McCoy has posted a career mark of 27-36, and recently confirmed that the club has not offered him an extension (he’s currently signed only through 2016). For what it’s worth, Ben Volin of the Boston Globe indicated this morning that McCoy was unlikely to be fired after the season.
It’s not his fault for the roughly 15 on IR but the way the Bolts have lost is. The Browns game aside because that was minor league stuff but the close losses, all the turnovers, predictable plays, and every other clock management mistake shows the discipline and game planning are not up to playoff caliber. He is a lot like Norv Turner. Probably a better coordinator. I think the GM gets a break because this year’s draft was a bases loaded double. Bosa and Henry look like stars and J. Brown is solid. Watt may end up being a long term solution as well. Get Rivers a ring before it’s too late.
This is true. The draft was a solid one, especially if Max Tuerk can come in and play Center or Guard. The team definitely has talent and it’s the best defense they have had in a long time. We lack a play making safety and possibly another pass rusher. Replace Franklin with Tuerk and draft a LT to replace Dunlap. The whole LA move and all the players on the IR definitely effected the Chargers this year.
He’s a poor game day coach, and should have been fired last offseason.
New Head Coach is overdue They also need a Field Goal kicker
I think the owners are in the business for themselves and not the players or fans they don’t want to win just look at the players they got rid of over the years
Seau Harrison Sproles Brees LT Weedle
Need I say more
I agree with everyone but Weddle he played poorly his last 2 years on the Chargers. Always getting burned and the juke move always made him fall on his ass.
