10:35pm: The 49ers also picked up an extra seventh-round pick (No. 249), tweets Cam Inman of the Bay Area News Group.
10:16pm: The 49ers have acquired the No. 28 pick from the Chiefs, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com (Twitter link). Field Yates of ESPN.com (Twitter link) reports San Francisco will ship a second-round pick (No. 37), a fourth-round pick (No. 105), and a sixth-round pick (No. 178) to Kansas City, and use the pick to select guard Joshua Garnett, per Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports (Twitter link).
Kansas City was reportedly trying to trade up at one point, perhaps with its eye on Paxton Lynch. Once Lynch went to the Broncos, however, it seems that the Chiefs changed course and decided to trade back and acquire more picks. Garnett will be plugged in as an immediate starter on a San Francisco offensive line that has become porous in recent years.
Not sure what to say about this one. Scratching my head. Hope they know what they are doing and hope his guy helps out. Gave up some decent picks in my opinion. Sucks. I pray this guy helps the line. Can’t hurt right? Lol.
You hope that Trent Baalke knows what he’s doing? You may be the most optimistic human I’ve ever encountered lol
49ers totally reached for this pick!! Idiots!!!
It’ll pay off. Just watch
I will say this too, Baalke sucks but I do love his first pick with Buckner!
It’s a good move. The Niners need to boost the line and they get one of the top O-Lineman in the draft. O-Lineman picks are never “sexy” but can be so valuable. Especially in their division with the Seahwaks, Rams, and Cardinals having Monster D-Lines.
They have so many picks. If they kept them all They’d have like 12 rookies and a handful probably wouldn’t even make the roster. There just isn’t enough roster space. That makes the 4th rounder and 6th rounder expendable. I’m not a fan of Baalke either but I like this move.
They are far from being a playoff contender again but the two picks today are good pieces to improve the team in my opinion.
I hope they keep drafting up front and go skill positions next year, this draft is deep on lineman especially defense and next year is deep on skill positions with Watson the crown jewel
I feel like hed be there at 37 lol smh
Seahawks would’ve took him.
