Browns wideout Josh Gordon will be eligible to apply for reinstatement from his suspension in February, and if Gordon gets the go-ahead from the NFL to return to action, head coach Mike Pettine would welcome him back with open arms, tweets Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. “Absolutely we would,” Pettine said. “He’s a Cleveland Brown.”
Of course, given the way the Browns have played this season, it’s fair to be skeptical that Pettine will even be around to make that decision in February — it’s possible Cleveland will have hired a new head coach by then.
As we wait to see what the future holds for Pettine and Gordon, let’s check in on a few more items from around the NFL’s North divisions….
- The two-year deal Ryan Mallett signed with the Ravens is basically a $1.6MM pact, says Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun (Twitter links). Of course, most of that money will be due next season, and the quarterback’s 2016 salary (about $1.5MM) is non-guaranteed. If Mallett does make the team, he can earn an extra $500K for playing just 1% of Baltimore’s regular snaps, and $1MM if he plays 10% of the snaps, maxing out the year at $2.5MM, tweets Field Yates of ESPN.com.
- “Lovely” isn’t a word that makes its way into NFL interviews too often, but that was the adjective Calvin Johnson used today to describe the possibility of finishing his career with the Lions, as Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com details.
- Willie Young‘s transition from defensive end to outside linebacker hasn’t always been smooth, but it has gone better than expected, and it looks like Young could have a future with the Bears, writes Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune.

Your flipping insane if you think this would ever work, with the salary cap and other ideas and the lions especially get nothing in return considering this draft class is terrible in QB depth, and OL giving Calvin, Stafford, and ebron all first round picks for crap
First off have you watch any college football . There are 3 Qb to 4 Qb going in first round Alone or have t you took time look up any of the mock draft yet .and in my trade lions are going to get 3 of top 10 pick at less . And read my 2 post to make this trade happen player going to Dallas would have to restructure there deal along with current Cowboys but since romo has been hurt Johnson has been hurt gordan has been gone from NFL and Thomas also have restructure his contact and fact that Cowboys would be trading Carr who counts 13 million against next years cap and free counts 6 million and fact that other player Cowboys are trading in the deal are either under Rockies contracts or are restricted free agents. Which mean there teams can equal any contract that they get and resign them .
The lions are not going any where and with Johnson being hurt last 2 seasons and Stafford going back wards and fact they’d both make tons money against the cap and fact is Browns suck and there talent pole is not where it need to be . And most important think any team need to start with is Qb and my though was maybe Stafford needs fresh start . Stupid me , I thought that this trade would give each team chance to win Browns who are over 30 million in next years cap under the cap a Qb they they need since they came back to the nfl. And help that pore off line and some def help. And since lion next season are worse then Cowboys in cap space would give them around 20 to 25 million more to spend on free agents and give lions 3 top ten draft pics that could end up being top 6 depend how last 3 weeks go. And for Cowboys it would give them better chance for them to bring champion chip to big dee before Jerry dies .
Just because 3-4 QBs are potential first round picks doesn’t mean that this is a good draft class. The guy was right this isn’t a strong class overall.
Ow I almost for got Dallas get lions 2 round pic of course the only way this trade could happen Johnson Murray Gordon and Thomas as well cowboy player like romo smith witten would have to re do there contract but it’s idea
I understand you love the massive trade proposals. I see them on MLBTR all the time too. I’m not gonna bash them (they’ll likely not happen, but it can still be fun to speculate), but please touch up the punctuation a little bit. If you really expect people to read the whole thing, you need real sentences. It’s too jumbled to even really make sense.
