Safety Taylor Mays continues to bounce around from one NFL team to another, and this time, he’s going to a familiar club. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN.com (Twitter link), Mays is re-signing with the Raiders, after also considering the Seahawks.
In five NFL seasons with the 49ers and Bengals, Mays has made 84 tackles, recorded one sack, and recovered a pair of fumbles. While his numbers aren’t exceptional, the former second-round pick is a solid contributor on special teams, and drew interest from multiple teams when he hit the market this offseason.
Since he became a free agent in the winter, Mays has signed with the Vikings, Lions, and Raiders, but was cut by all three times. Most recently, Oakland parted ways with Mays during the cutdown to 53 players.
Now, with Charles Woodson ailing and Nate Allen having suffered an injury that could potentially put his season in jeopardy, it makes sense that the Raiders would bring back a familiar face and a veteran to provide some depth at safety.
Well at least he’s familiar with the defensive scheme for what it’s worth.

Ray-Ray was no where even the HC Del Rio admitted he missed two leverage plays and who knows how many out of place plays!

Hmm Dowling and Tyvon Branch both more talented than Mays. Oh and RayRay or Sio Moore? Reggie and DelRio cut/traded talent and now it bites us in the ass. Depth is a key component to success in the NFL.
Branch was injury 2 years straight and actually has lost speed which effects his play plus he wasn’t worth what he was asking. Sio was a cancer in the locker room which is even worse when your a struggling team. Dowling was starting to be a practice problem.
We need to sign dejon Gomez bring him home to the bay already got experience with the safety coach

The problem with Mays is that he doesn’t make decisions fast enough. He is better when he is coached what to do. Don’t let him make decision instead tell him on this play here is your responsibility. That is why he doesn’t make impact plays.
So much of what we saw is beyond frustrating,first of all,everyone, (Including Del Rio) knows there is no way in hell we should have kept Armstrong over Sio Moore. Not only was he his usual non-effective self,he dived into a pile,and injured one of our best players!,(Nate Allen).It’s just too much to re-hash right now,but if they don’t make some DRASTIC changes,we’re in for another LOOOONNGGGG season,smh…….

I can honestly say now that this team WILL NEVER compete for a spot in the playoffs ever again.
