Chargers Contract Details: Mack, Bozeman, Dye, Conklin

Here are some details on recent contracts signed by the Chargers:

  • Khalil Mack, OLB (Chargers): One year, $18MM. According to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, Mack’s one-year contract is fully guaranteed with a $10MM signing bonus and an $8MM base salary. Due to some void salary cap carryover, Mack will represent a $26.87MM cap hit in 2025.
  • Bradley Bozeman, C (Chargers): Two years, $6.5MM. Per Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2, Bozeman’s new deal has a total guaranteed amount of $3.38MM consisting of a $2.12MM signing bonus and his base salary in 2025 of $1.26MM. Despite no guarantees in the second year of the deal, Bozeman can earn a $500K roster bonus, effective on the third day of the 2026 new league year. Each year of the deal also holds a $2.75MM incentive based on playing time.
  • Troy Dye, LB (Chargers): Two years, $5.5MM. According to Wilson, the new two-year contract includes $3MM of total guarantees. $1.5MM, in the form of a signing bonus, is guaranteed at signing, while the remaining $1.5MM comes from Dye’s 2025 base salary. Like Bozeman, Dye has a $500K roster bonus for 2026, but Dye’s incentives (up to $1.5MM each year) are based on playing time, sacks, and interceptions and can act as an escalator for his 2026 earnings. Despite a $2MM base salary and $3.25MM cap hit for the second year of his deal, Los Angeles built in a potential out that will allow them to release Dye after this season with only $750K in dead cap.
  • Tyler Conklin, TE (Chargers): One year, $3MM. Conklin’s recent deal with Los Angeles can be worth up to $4.5MM with incentives, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network. Garafolo calls Conklin’s incentives “reachable,” insinuating that Conklin should be able to wring out the full value of the deal.
  • J.K. Scott, P (Chargers): Two years, $6MM. Per Wilson, Scott’s new contract includes $3.15MM of total guarantees, all guaranteed at signing. The guarantees include a $1.9MM signing bonus and Scott’s 2025 base salary of $1.25MM. Unlike Bozeman and Dye, Scott’s $500K roster bonus is effective on the fifth day of the 2026 new league year. Like Dye, though, Scott’s deal has a built-in potential out that will allow Los Angeles to cut him after this year for only $950K of dead cap, despite a salary of $2.35MM and a scheduled cap hit of $3.8MM in 2026.
  • Jalen Reagor, WR (Chargers): One year, $1.34MM. According to Wilson, Reagor’s deal is just over the veteran minimum, thanks to $360K of guarantees comprised of a $60K signing bonus and $300K of his base salary (worth a total of $1.17MM). Reagor will also net an additional $55K through a workout bonus and could earn a Week 1 roster bonus of $52.5K if he makes the 53-man roster.

Chargers Re-Sign LB Troy Dye, WR Jalen Reagor

The Chargers are re-signing veteran linebacker Troy Dye, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Dye’s contract is worth $5.5MM over two years with a maximum value of $8.5MM with incentives, according to The Athletic’s Jeff Howe. Multiple other teams were interested, but Dye opted to stay on the West Coast after growing up in California and playing college football at Oregon.

Dye appeared in all 17 games (five starts) for the Chargers in 2024 with a rotational role on defense and an 80% snap share on special teams. He finished the season with career-highs of 57 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and two tackles for loss.

The 28-year-old was originally a fourth-round pick by the Vikings in 2020. He primarily played special teams in Minnesota with eight starts on defense across four years. He signed a one-year, $1.79MM deal with the Chargers in 2024 and is now under contract with the team through the 2026 season.

The Chargers also announced the re-signing of wide receiver Jalen Reagor. The 26-year-old appeared in eight games with seven receptions for 100 yards, but could be in line for a bigger role in 2025 after the departure of Josh Palmer.

Reagor was an Eagles first-round pick in 2020 who struggled to live up to his draft billing in Philadelphia. He was traded to the Vikings ahead of the 2022 season and waived after another disappointing year. Reagor spent 2023 with the Patriots, but couldn’t make the 53-man roster in 2024. He then joined the Chargers’ practice squad in September and was promoted to the active roster in November.

Alualu is set to make his Lions debut after signing earlier this month. Given the injury issues Detroit has faced up front, the 36-year-old has the chance to see playing time through the close of the regular season and into the playoffs. Alualu expressed a desire to continue playing with the Steelers this offseason, but he remained a free agent deep into the year. His tenure in the Motor City could help boost his free agent stock if he wishes to remain in the league in 2024, though.

Vikings Designate Pat Elflein, Troy Dye To Return

The Vikings are in the midst of an abysmal campaign at 1-5, but they at least have some reinforcements on the way. Minnesota is designating guard Pat Elflein and linebacker Troy Dye to return from injured reserve, they announced Monday.

Each can return to practice, and the team now has a three-week window to activate either player. If they are not activated in that span, they’ll be ineligible to return for the remainder of the year. Those weren’t the only roster moves the Vikings made following their bye week, as they also claimed cornerback Chris Jones off waivers from the Lions and signed cornerback Mark Fields to the active roster from the practice squad. Clearly, the Vikings feel they need help in the secondary, and it’s hard to argue with that given what we’ve seen so far.

Elflein became the Vikings’ starter at center his first two years in the league, then switched to guard last season and started 15 games there. He played every snap in Week 1 but was placed on injured reserve with a knee issue shortly thereafter. Elflein has never been viewed too positively by most evaluators, but it can’t hurt to get a starter back.

Dye is a fourth-round rookie from Oregon who could help with a defense that has been struggling mightily. He started to get defensive snaps in Week 2 after Anthony Barr picked up his season-ending injury, but then promptly went down with a foot injury of his own.

Jones is a 2018 UDFA from Nebraska who appeared in 11 games with three starts for the Cardinals last year. He had 22 tackles and six passes defended. Fields is a 2019 UDFA from Clemson who spent most of last year on Minnesota’s practice squad and has been shuffling back and forth between there and the active roster this season.

NFL Draft Pick Signings: 7/22/20

Here are the latest draft pick signings. With rookies set to report to teams’ training camps this week, teams are busy on this front.

  • The Vikings were the busiest team in the draft, making 15 picks this year. They have been active signing them Wednesday. Beyond first-rounder Justin Jefferson, Minnesota has agreed to terms with second-round tackle Ezra Cleveland, fourth-round linebacker Troy Dye, fourth-round defensive tackle James Lynch and seventh-round offensive lineman Kyle Hinton. Cleveland, rumored as a possible late-first-round selection, will be groomed to become a near-future starter for the Vikings.
  • The Broncos began signing some of their picks, most notably getting third-rounders Michael Ojemudia and McTelvin Agim under contract. A cornerback, Ojemudia is set to compete for a starting job opposite A.J. Bouye; Agim profiles as D-line depth behind established starters this season. Denver also signed fourth-round tight end Albert Okwuegbunam, a Mizzou alum set to rejoin his former quarterback (Drew Lock) in the Mile High City. The Broncos also reached an agreement with seventh-round outside linebacker Derrek Tuszka.
  • Despite having T.J. Watt and Bud Dupree under contract, the Steelers used a third-round pick on outside linebacker Alex Highsmith. The Charlotte alum agreed to terms on his four-year rookie deal. Highsmith recorded 15 sacks at the mid-major program last season.
  • Packers third-round pick Josiah Deguara also agreed on his four-year rookie contract. Green Bay eschewed its wide receiver need throughout the draft, using Day 2 to add a running back (A.J. Dillon) and Deguara, who profiles as a tight end/fullback. The Cincinnati product surpassed 900 yards between his final two college seasons, totaling 12 touchdown grabs in that span.
  • Tennessee third-round running back Darrynton Evans signed his rookie deal as well. Evans looks set to replace Dion Lewis as the Titans‘ Derrick Henry change-of-pace back. The Appalachian State alum rushed for 1,480 yards and 18 touchdowns last season. He added five receiving TDs.
  • The Giants used first- and third-round picks on tackles. The latter selection, UConn’s Matt Peart, agreed to the terms of his rookie deal Wednesday. Peart profiles as a developmental lineman, working behind expected starters Nate Solder and Andrew Thomas. He stands to join Cameron Fleming as depth for Big Blue.
  • Washington has agreed to terms with third-round running back/wideout Antonio Gibson, fourth-round receiver Antonio Gandy-Golden and fifth-round center Keith Ismael. Gibson and Gandy-Golden figure to be key parts of a Washington offense that is limited, beyond Terry McLaurin, in the passing game. Gibson totaled 1,104 yards from scrimmage at Memphis last season, while Gandy-Golden caught 20 touchdown passes in two years at Liberty.
  • Fourth-round Cowboys pick Reggie Robinson agreed to terms as well. The Tulsa cornerback joins a Cowboys team that lost Byron Jones in free agency. Dallas was active in an effort to replace the Pro Bowler, drafting Trevon Diggs in Round 2 and signing Daryl Worley.
  • Sixth-round Chargers safety Alohi Gilman, a Notre Dame alum, signed his Chargers contract Wednesday. Gillman joins a deep Bolts safety corps.
  • The Buccaneers drafted two running backs this year. On Wednesday, they agreed to terms with the second of those picks — seventh-rounder Raymond Calais. In addition to his work as a running back at Louisiana, Calais was a four-year kick returner for the Rajin’ Cajuns.
