Lions Activate WR Corey Fuller From PUP

The Lions announced that they have activated wide receiver Corey Fuller from the PUP list. To make room, the team waived tight end Khari LeeCorey Fuller (vertical)

Fuller, 26, has appeared in 28 games for Detroit over the last two years. Unfortunately, he has been slow to recover from foot surgery but it now sounds like he’ll be able to suit up for Week 11 against the Jaguars. In total, Fuller has caught 18 of his 40 career targets for 288 yards and one touchdown. He’ll give Detroit a fifth receiver, something they haven’t really had all season long. The Lions have Golden Tate as their top WR target along with Golden Tate, Anquan Boldin, and Andre Roberts. It will be interesting to see where Fuller fits in with that group of big names.

Lee was claimed off waivers from Chicago in early September. The 24-year-old appeared in all 16 regular season games for the Bears and even made seven starts, but his role didn’t involve a ton of pass-catching. He was tasked with a similar job in Detroit as he drew just one target this year.

Lions Claim Khari Lee Off Waivers

The Lions have claimed tight end Khari Lee off waivers from the Bears, a source tells Adam Schefter of ESPN.com (on Twitter). Khari Lee (vertical)

Lee, 24, was waived by the Bears on Sunday to make room for fellow tight end Logan Paulsen. Last year, Lee appeared in all 16 regular season games for the Bears and even logged seven starts, though his role didn’t involve a ton of pass-catching. On the year, he was targeted just three times and had only one reception for seven yards. However, Lee is known as a strong in-line blocker.

To make room for Lee, the Lions will have to bump one player from the roster. Currently, the Lions have Eric Ebron, Orson Charles, and Cole Wick at tight end on the depth chart.

Following the 53-man roster cutdown deadline yesterday, many teams will make slight tweaks to their rosters, claiming players off waivers or signing guys who clear waivers. Bears To Sign Logan Paulsen

The Bears have added some depth at tight end, as they’ve agreed to sign former Redskins tight end Logan Paulsen, according to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune (Twitter link). To clear a roster spot, Chicago has waived fellow TE Khari Lee.Logan Paulsen (Vertical)

Paulsen, 29, had been with Washington since 2010, although a toe injury kept him off the field last season. Entering 2016, he found himself buried on the tight end depth chart behind Jordan Reed, Niles Paul, and Vernon Davis. Paulsen compiled 53 catches, 575 yards, and four touchdowns between the 2012 and 2013 season. He was released yesterday as the Redskins formulated their 53-man roster.

With the Bears, Paulsen will play behind veteran Zach Miller, and possibly vie for snaps with Greg Scruggs. Always regarded as a good blocker, Paulsen could fill the in-line tight end role while Miller serves as more of a pass-catcher.

Bears Acquire Khari Lee From Texans

11:45am: The Bears have officially confirmed the deal, announcing (via Twitter) that they’ve waived tight end Blake Annen to make room for Lee on their roster.

10:59am: The Texans and Bears have agreed to a trade, according to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle, who reports (via Twitter) that Houston has sent tight Khari Lee to Chicago. In exchange for Lee, the Texans will receive a 2017 sixth-round draft pick, per McClain.

Lee, 23, was one of 16 undrafted free agents to sign with the Texans right after the draft concluded in May, and the Bowie State product has been one of the more impressive players from that group. The rookie tight end has caught at least one pass in each of Houston’s three preseason games, with five receptions for 71 yards in total.

According to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle (Twitter links), the Bears are excited about Lee, since the club likes his ability as an in-line blocker and the fact that he’s a solid red zone receiver. Wilson adds that the two sides worked out the trade last night, following the cutdown to 75 players.

While Lee isn’t a lock to make the Bears’ 53-man roster, the fact that the team was willing to surrender a sixth-round pick for him suggests he’s in the plans. As such, one or two of Chicago’s other tight ends may be in danger of losing their roster spots. Besides Martellus Bennett, the Bears are also carrying veterans Dante Rosario, Bear Pascoe, and Zach Miller.
