The Raiders have waived linebacker Kaluka Maiava off of the injured reserve list, according to Vic Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle (via Twitter). Maiava, 27, was placed on IR in early October thanks to a hamstring injury that was bothering him through training camp and the first four weeks of the regular season.
Over six seasons with the Browns and Raiders, Maiava has amassed 147 tackles and 4.5 sacks. He’s no stranger to the injury bug, however. Last year, he saw just eight games of action before being shut down for the season.
Maiava was in the midst of a three-year deal that was slated to take him through the 2015 campaign. Had he remained under contract, he would have earned $1.5MM next season.
