Toney is set to make his debut for the regular season. The former first-round pick out of Florida has had a rocky first four years in the league, despite coming away with two Super Bowl rings in Kansas City. He was signed to the Browns’ practice squad just after the season opener and will be eligible to see game action with Cleveland in Week 11.

O’Donnell was added to the 49ers’ practice squad earlier this week given the chance of Mitch Wishnowsky missing time. The latter is now on injured reserve, ensuring at least a four-game absence. O’Donnell, 32, is a veteran of 145 games but Week 11 will mark his first regular season action since 2022.

Prince played under Brian Callahan in Cincinnati but has only played two games over the past two seasons. A six-game starter with the Dolphins and Bengals, Prince missed all of the 2020 season due to a COVID-19 opt-out and then all of the 2022 season due to injury.

The Vikings cut Tonyan from their 53-man roster earlier today, but because the NFC North mainstay is a vested veteran, he did not need to clear waivers before joining Minnesota’s practice squad. With T.J. Hockenson on the way back, Tonyan profiles as insurance.

This is a third chance for Marshall. The Panthers waived him after three seasons. No team claimed the former second-round pick, with Joe Brady‘s Bills passing. The 49ers took a flier soon after but released him last week.

Wednesday’s minor moves:

Atlanta Falcons

Kansas City Chiefs

Seattle Seahawks

Prince’s release is notable given his status as the Falcons’ swing tackle. The 26-year-old has seen only 10 special teams snaps to date with Jake Matthews and Kaleb McGary staying healthy early in the campaign. A 2019 Dolphins sixth-rounder, Prince has six NFL starts to his name (two in Miami and four in Cincinnati). He signed a reserve deal with the Broncos in February, but was released ahead of final roster cuts. That led to his Falcons deal, one which will have proven to be quite short-lived if he is not retained via the practice squad.

Wednesday NFL Transactions: NFC South

Following the 53-man roster cutdown deadline Tuesday, many teams will make slight tweaks to their rosters. In addition to waiver claims, teams can begin constructing their 16-man practice squads today. These BuccaneersFalconsPanthers and Saints moves are noted below.

Broncos Waive WR Kendall Hinton

The Broncos are saying goodbye for now to fourth-year wide receiver Kendall Hinton, according to Mike Klis of 9NEWS. In a wide receivers room led by Jerry Jeudy, Courtland Sutton, and rookie second-round pick Marvin Mims, Hinton failed to provide enough value as a backup to remain on the active roster.

Hinton is perhaps most famous for a game during his rookie season in which he performed as the team’s emergency starting quarterback due to several COVID-19 absences. He didn’t quite stick at that position, but he found a role in the receiving corps, even expanding on that role in his second year in the position.

In 2022, Hinton performed as the WR3 behind Jeudy and Sutton, putting up the third-most catches and receiving yards in the receivers room. Despite where that ranks on the team’s stat sheet, Hinton failed to satisfy expectations with the opportunities he was given. Given his history with the team, though, there’s a chance Hinton could land back on the practice squad, should he clear waivers.

Also getting waived alongside Hinton are wide receivers JJ Koski and Nick Williams and cornerback Delonte Hood. Denver also released veteran offensive tackle Isaiah Prince. Prince has started six games in the NFL since being drafted, but that experience wasn’t enough to grant him a roster spot with the Broncos to start the year.

The Bengals both designated Prince for return from IR and activated him Monday. This marks the second time this year the defending AFC champions have used one of their injury activations on a player only to waive him a day later. This first happened with Kareem, who then moved to the Bengals’ practice squad ahead of this Colts poaching. A former Dolphins sixth-rounder, Prince played in 15 Bengals games last season and started four. He has not played this year. It will be somewhat interesting if the Bengals keep Prince via a P-squad agreement, provided no waiver claims emerge.

Eifler, Rhattigan and Shudak have three weeks from Tuesday to be activated. The Seahawks, Titans and Commanders had seen their number of activation-eligible players pile up in recent weeks. Each of these teams have five injury activations remaining.

The Titans waived Week 11 kicker fill-in Josh Lambo on Monday. Primary Tennessee kicker Randy Bullock missed the game but is not on IR. Bullock suffered a calf injury during pregame warmups in Week 10. Shudak, a rookie UDFA out of Iowa who has spent the season on the Titans’ reserve/PUP list, would stand to represent insurance this week.
