Despite the Rams‘ dominance through four games, they haven’t deployed much in the way of name talent at linebacker. They traded Alec Ogletree to the Giants and shipped Robert Quinn to the Dolphins. Los Angeles is in line to have its top current ‘backer back in Week 5, however. Sean McVay expects Barron to make his season debut against the Seahawks after missing the first four games due to a lingering Achilles injury that caused him to miss all of Los Angeles’ offseason program.
“We’ve kind of got a plan in place where we’re anticipating him being able to go. And that’s subject to change based on how he responds. But he’s feeling good up to this point,” McVay said, via Myles Simmons of TheRams.com. “We’re hopeful to be able to get him back and if that’s the case we’ll be excited to get Mark out there.”
Barron started 44 games for the Rams the past four seasons and is in the third season of a five-year, $45MM contract. The Rams have started Cory Littleton and Ramik Wilson at inside linebacker this season.
Here’s the latest from this division, one that features a clear-cut favorite at the quarter pole.

Seantrel Henderson is back. The Bills have activated the offensive lineman from the suspension list, as Ian Rapoport of NFL.com tweets. To make room, cornerback Greg Mabin has been released.
Henderson, a former starter in Buffalo, should offer some quality depth on the offensive line. He was first string for all 16 regular season games as a rookie in 2014, but things took a weird turn for him after that point. Last year, he was hit with a ten-game substance abuse policy suspension, though Henderson says he was only using marijuana to help treat symptoms of his Crohn’s disease.
In August, Henderson accepted a pay cut that brought his non-guaranteed base salary of $1.797MM down to just $690K. He’s expected to offer support for starters Cordy Glenn and Jordan Mills, which should allow rookie swing tackle Dion Dawkins to concentrate on playing in the middle.
With E.J. Gaines questionable for this weekend’s game with a groin injury, the Bills have added a defensive back to their roster. ESPN’s Mike Rodak reports (via Twitter) that the team has promoted cornerback Greg Mabin from the practice squad. To make room on the roster, the Bills have released wide receiver Philly Brown.
Gaines, who has started each of his team’s first four games, suffered the injury during the second half of last weekend’s win over the Falcons. So far this season, the 25-year-old has compiled 19 tackles and two forced fumbles, and Pro Football Focus rates him 18th among 109 eligible cornerbacks. If Gaines does miss time, Mabin surely won’t be replacing him in the lineup. The undrafted rookie out of Iowa certainly had a productive collegiate career, but he’s bounced around the league over the past few months. In the event that Gaines misses the contest, it’s more likely the team turns to Leonard Johnson or Shareece Wright to take his starting spot.
Brown, a former standout at Ohio State, joined the Bills this offseason following three seasons with the Panthers. His best season came in 2015, when he hauled in 31 receptions for 447 yards and four touchdowns. He also has experience running the ball, as he’s collected 16 career carries. He’s yet to get into a regular season game in 2017. With Brown released and Jordan Matthews set to miss several weeks, the Bills are now only rostering four healthy wideouts in Zay Jones, Andre Holmes, Kaelin Clay, and Brandon Tate.
