A former 60-meter dash finalist at the U.S. Indoor Track and Field Championships, Guidry has bounced around the league. But the Jets are bringing back the young cornerback. Guidry played 28 games for the team from 2020-21. A fellow DB, Westry started two games for the Ravens in 2021; he will relocate to Cleveland.

Jackson, Jennings and Thomas all played in the XFL this season and auditioned for the Panthers at their recent rookie minicamp. The Panthers tried Thomas at both tight end and linebacker over the weekend. Although Thomas played in the most recent XFL effort, he was in Colts camp — under current Panthers HC Frank Reich — in 2021. This is Jennings’ seventh NFL stop. The former Seahawks fourth-round pick has not played in the NFL since his 2019 rookie year in Seattle.

Romo joins a Lions team carrying Michael Badgley as its incumbent kicker. The younger specialist has not yet kicked in an NFL game, but the former Virginia Tech kicker played in the XFL this season, making 17 of 19 field goal tries. This included a 57-yarder.

Although Ogbuehi is a former first-round pick, he has started five games since the 2018 season. He landed on Houston’s practice squad IR list earlier this month but will be part of the Jets’ scramble to reassemble their tackle depth chart after George Fant‘s IR trip. Ogbuehi’s Bengals audition seasons came back in 2016 and ’17; the Seahawks used him as a fill-in starter in four 2020 games. Ogbuehi, 30, joins Mike Remmers as Jets tackle additions this week.

The Ravens were interested in adding Luketa off the Cardinals’ practice squad, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com tweets. That looks to have prompted the Cards’ decision to move him up to their 53-man roster. The Cards drafted Luketa in this year’s seventh round (256th overall) out of Penn State.

Tennessee’s outside linebacker shuffle included waiving Tuszka, who is now with his third team this year. A former Broncos seventh-round pick, Tuszka spent the offseason with the Steelers. He will move to a Chargers team that has Joey Bosa likely to miss games after suffering what Brandon Staley called a serious groin injury.

The Jets’ addition of Adams makes a lot of sense after rookie running back La’Mical Perine suffered a high ankle sprain that is expected to sideline him for at least a couple games. A 2018 UDFA out of Notre Dame, Adams played a significant role with the Eagles as a rookie, when he started five of 14 games and carries the ball 120 times for 511 yards and three touchdowns. Despite the reasonably productive first season, he was waived at final cuts last year.

Latest On Jalen Thompson, Supplemental Draft

There are five known entrants for the NFL’s Supplemental Draft on Wednesday afternoon, but Jalen Thompson of Washington State is expected to be the only player selected, Tony Pauline of DraftAnalyst.com hears.

The defensive back has impressed on both a football level and personal level, making him a strong candidate to be picked. Based on Pauline’s conversations over the last two days, teams seem to view him as a fourth or fifth-round talent who will likely be swiped off the board in the sixth or seventh round.

So far, the Packers, Texans, and Arizona have shown the most interest in Thompson, Pauline hears. As previously reported, the Packers watched Thompson work out and flew him to Green Bay afterwards. The Texans, meanwhile, could use some safety help after failing to address the need in April’s draft. The Cardinals could also use some reinforcements in that area, but it’s not clear if they’ll add another prospect after tapping Deionte Thompson in the fifth round.

For what it’s worth, some in Arizona’s front office see Jalen Thompson as a better prospect than Deionte Thompson, Pauline hears. If J. Thompson is on the board after the fifth round, Pauline expects the Cardinals to place a bid.

The supplemental draft will take place at 1pm ET/noon CT on Wednesday.

Cardinals Sign Five Draft Picks, Wrap Up Draft Class

After signing Kyler Murray and a handful of others yesterday, the Cardinals wrapped up the rest of their picks today. Arizona announced the following signings:

With that, every 2019 Cardinals draft pick is officially under contract. In Isabella and Butler, the Cards got two new weapons for Murray. Isabella is a speed-demon who played at a small school, but put up monster numbers. Undersized but blazing fast, Isabella racked up 102 receptions for 1,698 yards and 13 touchdowns last season for the Minutemen.

Many people thought Butler would end up going earlier than he did, and a lot of mock drafts had him going sometime in the second round. He slipped to the fourth, where Arizona got him with the 103rd pick. Butler was also very productive in college, putting up 1,318 yards and nine touchdowns in his junior season at Iowa State before declaring for the draft.

Thompson is another player who had a notable tumble on draft day. For a while the Alabama product was considered one of the top safeties in the class, and a bunch of analysts thought he would go sometime on Day 2. He’ll now have a big chip on his shoulder, as he lasted all the way to the 139th pick.

Alabama S Deionte Thompson Underwent Surgery

One of the NFL Draft’s top defensive back prospects will be sidelined for a while. NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport reports (via Twitter) that Alabama safety Deionte Thompson had surgery on Friday to repair a torn ligament in his wrist.

Unsurprisingly, it’s unlikely that Thompson will be able to participate in the NFL Scouring Combine, which takes place next week. Fortunately, Rapoport says the safety isn’t facing any long-term issues stemming from the injury.

Along with Mississippi State’s Johnathan Abram and Delaware’s Nasir Adderley, Thompson was considered to be one of the top safety prospects in the upcoming draft. The 22-year-old had a hot start to the 2018 campaign, with some pundits giving the safety a first-round projection. However, a rough second half of the season hurt his draft stock, and this most recent surgery could bump him back even further. While Thompson has the ability to be a starting-caliber NFL player, he may not be selected until the third day of the draft.

During his first full season as a starter, the six-foot-two, 196-pound senior finished with 79 tackles, six passes defended, three forced fumbles, and two interceptions. He had primarily served as a backup during his sophomore and junior seasons at Alabama.

Alabama’s Deionte Thompson, Saivion Smith Declare For NFL Draft

Alabama safety Deionte Thompson has declared for the NFL draft and will forego his senior season with the Crimson Tide, per Matt Miller of Bleacher Report (Twitter link). It is really a no-brainer for Thompson, who is widely expected to be a first-round selection in the 2019 draft.

A consensus four-star recruit coming out of high school, Thompson had a breakout year in 2018, posting 78 tackles and picking up a pair of interceptions for the SEC powerhouse. At 6-2, 194 pounds, Thompson possesses excellent length and he has impressive speed for his size. He is a willing tackler in the running game, and he also has the range to cover receivers downfield.

The Panthers, Lions, Redskins, Cowboys, and Packers would be potential landing spots for Thompson. He did not have a great showing in last week’s CFB title game, but his overall body of work still makes him the best safety in the draft.

Meanwhile, Thompson’s teammate, Saivion Smith, has also declared for the draft, per Tony Pauline of DraftAnalyst.com (via Twitter). Pauline has a third-round grade on Smith, who, like Thompson, has elected to skip his senior year of college. Smith is a 6-1, 200 pound corner who picked off three passes this year, including one pick-six.

Six Alabama underclassmen have now declared for the 2019 draft.
