Cardinals Cut 7 Ahead Of Deadline

The Cardinals parted ways with seven players today as they begin the process of working their roster down to 53 players. Per azcardinals.com writer Darren Urban and KPRC 2’s Aaron Wilson, those players are:

Released:

Waived:

Ojemudia and McKinley are the only ones of the seven to start games so far in their NFL careers. Ojemudia started 11 games as a rookie third-round pick out of Iowa in 2020. After experiencing a setback in 2021 on injured reserve, Ojemudia’s role in Chicago continued waning until he eventually found himself on the practice squad for the Rams last year.

McKinley, a former standout at Oregon, started two of 10 game appearances as an undrafted rookie for the Dolphins back in 2022. He spent part of 2023 on Miami’s practice squad.

Strong was a surprising release by the Cardinals during the regular season last year. At the time, Strong was coming off of his strongest NFL campaign, but head coach Jonathan Gannon claimed that the release was what was “best for the team.” While we still don’t know the nature of the suspension, or whether or not it’s even related to his January release, we are aware that he will miss three games.

Max Pircher will be joining the Lions via the league’s International Pathways Program. Pircher played football in Austria and participated on Italy’s National Team before a stint on the Rams’ practice squad in 2021.

Tae Crowder became a popular name after he compiled 130 tackles in 17 starts for the Giants in 2021. He found himself sliding down the depth chart in 2022 before ultimately getting waived. He landed back on New York’s practice squad before being signed by the Steelers, where he didn’t get into a game while sitting on their active roster.

Rams Reduce Roster To 53 Players

As the Rams look to defend their Super Bowl title, the team reduced their roster to the 53-man limit today:

Placed on reserve/suspended:

Jacob Harris getting cut came as a bit of a surprise after the 2021 fourth-round pick got into nine games as a rookie. However, he rarely got a look on offense in 2021, and despite the Rams only rostering two tight ends at the end of the day (Tyler Higbee, Brycen Hopkins), Harris was let go. Chris Garrett was also a 2021 draft pick, being selected by the Rams in the seventh round. He only got into one game as a rook.

AJ Arcuri was a seventh-round pick in this year’s draft, but the rookie didn’t show enough to crack the 53-man roster. There’s a good chance the Michigan State product lands back on the Rams practice squad.
