The Jets have moved their roster to 76 players in advance of Saturday’s cutdown deadline. New York has announced the following transactions:

The Jets have released wide receiver Marquess Wilson, according to a team announcement. Wilson had the most career yardage of any receiver on the roster. 
Wilson was expected to play a significant role for the rebuilding Jets this year, but a hip injury cost him time in practice and his place on the depth chart. He showed promise in Chicago, averaging 16.6 yards per reception in the 2015 season with career highs in targets (51), catches (28), and receiving yards (464).
Unfortunately, the 24-year-old (25 in September) has struggled with injuries ever since then. Wilson spent the first two months of the 2016 campaign on the PUP list and recorded just nine receptions in three games before suffering a season-ending foot fracture. He has had three left foot fractures in his career and is now working to rehab from his hip issue.
It has been a rough offseason for the Jets’ receiving corps following the release of Eric Decker and the loss of Quincy Enunwa to a neck injury. While Jalin Marshall faces a four-game suspension to start the season, the team’s top receivers will be Robby Anderson plus third round pick ArDarius Stewart and fourth round pick Chad Hansen.
In a related move, the Jets inked former Alabama State tight end Brandon Barnes.
The Lions have re-signed free agent tight end Tim Wright, the club announced today. In a related move, Detroit has waived fellow tight end Brandon Barnes.
Wright, 27, was originally traded to the Lions prior to the 2015 season, and managed nine receptions in nine games during that campaign. The former Buccaneer and Patriot, who has 41 career games under his belt, looked primed to contend for a roster spot in 2016, but a torn ACL in May ended Wright’s season before it began. He spent the entirety of the year on injured reserve, and reached the open market this spring.
Detroit has already addressed its tight end group this offseason, as it signed former Cardinal Darren Fells and selected Toledo product Michael Roberts in the fourth round of the draft. While other reserve options include Khari Lee and Cole Wick, starter Eric Ebron is already dealing with a hamstring injury, so the Lions are searching for a bit more depth in the form of Wright.
Barnes, meanwhile, is an undrafted rookie free agent out of Alabama State. He managed five receptions, 85 yards, and one touchdown during his final collegiate season.

As far as draft picks go, Northern Illinois wide receiver Kenny Golladay is the only player that has yet to put pen to paper. The reason for the delay is not known, but third round picks often take longer to sign than other picks as things are less rigid in those slots.
Davis was said to be a target of the Dolphins at No. 22, so it’s a good thing that the Lions were up at No. 21. Davis impressed scouts at his Pro Day when he posted a 4.56 40-yard dash and 38.5 inch vertical jump. As shown on Roster Resource, Davis may be in for a starting role in 2017.
Tabor fell to the Lions at No. 53 but some draft analysts, like NFL.com’s Daniel Jeremiah, felt that he should have gone much higher. The Florida product suffered a hamstring injury during his workout with Detroit and was unable to audition for other teams, so that might explain why he was still available. Then again, we’ve seen “pretend injuries” before, so it’s possible there was a wink-wink deal between Tabor’s team and the Lions.
Kaaya was said to have one of the highest football IQs of any quarterback in this year’s class. It remains to be seen whether he has the arm to make it as an NFL quarterback, but the Lions believe that he can be a solid backup QB, at minimum.
According to Tom Pelissero of USA Today (on Twitter), Valoaga got $22K guaranteed ($12K bonus, $10K base) to sign with Detroit. Typically, UDFAs get around $5K, so that’s a sign that Valoaga had at least a few teams interested in adding him to the 90-man roster.
